Design Concept

The hospitality sector is a diverse industry and while each client has different priorities, the guest experience, comfort and convenience are at the crux of every design. We at ARK understand that the feel and ambience have to be immensely attractive, comfortable and functional. We are here to fulfil such increasing demands. Today’s era people are inclined towards appealing hotel rooms and fine restaurants. The Taj Skyline embraces the local culture of Gujarat and India in all forms.

Ode to Navratri

The entryway installation created by a lighting artist is an ode to Navratri, a largely celebrated culture in Ahmedabad, and across the country.  It is the day that people forget their daily routine and come together to celebrate, wearing their beautiful ghaghras with abla work. This is the feeling that the installation should bring to the end user. The forms and waves of the piece are inspired from the swirls of the flowy ghagra while women dance away to their favourite Navaratri songs. The Abla work is depicted by the lenses which will refract light and create unique illusions in the space.

Taking inspiration from Block Print Motifs

Two massive sculptures depicting the karigars that spend endless days creating intricate patterns on wood to stamp fabrics which create the beautiful final product, that we cannot do without. Block print motifs are a major design element across the Taj Skyline. It is subtly visible in the backdrop of the reception, the lit entryway ceiling, the all day dining dividers. The designs seamlessly blend into the overall aesthetic of the space.

The Peacock Motif

The peacock motif is evident across the Taj Skyline, in the artwork, furnishings, as well as the overall colour palette which is representative of grace, joy, beauty and love. The Green & Blue Colours of the peacock in furnishing complementing with the brown colour of natural wood.

The Taj Skyline embraces Indian culture in all forms, and the design incorporates elements close to the local culture of Gujarat. The Indian Peacock, the national bird of India, is a symbol of grace, joy, beauty and love. We have tried to incorporate the similar features and a touch of our national bird in our design. This also includes inspirations from the intricate latticework windows at the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Ahmedabad, as well as the Gamthi motifs of block print that dates back to the medieval ages of Gujarat.

Gujarat

The Taj Skyline embraces the culture of Gujarat in all forms, and incorporates elements close to the local culture and context of the state. The artwork across the walls of Shamiana reflect various aspects of monochromatic art pieces by local artists. The accent wall here is representative of the local architecture. You can see various landmarks across the state that encompass the design aesthetic of the state of Gujarat.

Shamiana

Dining at Shamiana is an elevating experience; as you are led in you notice the heritage wall, the Jali motifs, a Dibri chandelier and the “Art of Unity” installation that reminds you of Ahmedabad’s status as a World Heritage City.

The restaurant has been awarded Runner Up : Best Theme Based Restaurant in Gujarat in the recent Gujarat Tourism Awards

A touch of Moroccan

The Moroccan Rooftop Restaurant at the TAJ Skyline reflects a similar design aesthetic that we experience across the entire property. The aboriginal Moroccan designs include extensive lattice work used as perforations and partition walls, symmetrical square designs which can be considered parallel to block prints.

The Taj Skyline offers a seamless guest experience right from the entryway to the room. The selection of materials keeps in mind that the over aesthetic, and the ambience is immensely welcoming, comfortable and functional.
