Nature-inspired aesthetics

Covid-19 has restricted a large populace of today’s workforce into a mode of permanent home lockdown. As dull and unexciting as this may seem, we need to make that extra effort to pep up our lives to get used to this new lifestyle.

Inspired by Biophilic design principles, we would like to share our thoughts on ways in which we as the workforce could spruce up the space where we spend a large chunk of our days….the workstation!

Studies have proven over and over again of nature’s positive benefits on people, whether at a workplace or even a hospital. Since we can’t venture out into nature, we must bring nature to us!

In this post, we share with you an example of a nature inspired workstation and ways in which you could emulate it’s aesthetics

PLAN YOUR SPACE

Treat your horizontal space as a premium!  So plan your space out vertically. Choose the window or space with the best outdoor view from your home.

CHOOSE YOUR PALETTE

  • Dive into nature-inspired textures: Jagged edged timber platforms, stringy & rough burlap,  terracotta pots,  are great ways to add depth.
  • Potted greens: Plants add that essential freshness into any space. Our recommendation is to choose large leafy foliage to bring out that sheen and organic venation for pattern.
  • Decor: ‘Old is gold’ and antiques never go out of style in nature-inspired settings. Bring out those antiques and add a bit of charm into your space. Your table lamp could follow this vibe as well. Get creative and throw in a vibrantly toned cushion in handwoven knits or crochet, into your chair. Photographs and hand-drawn sketches are a perfect way to personalise your workspace.

Now, call it “your corner” in the house, and indeed treat it with a lot of TLC!
