Each one comes with a private or semi-private kitchenette, perfect for cooking up a quick meal whenever you like. The views? For our stay at Habyt Kada, we checked into a 2-bedroom studio with ensuite kitchenette and here are 6 reasons we enjoyed our stay.

6 Reasons Habyt is a great place to stay

1. Stylish and Cozy Interiors for the Perfect Stay

The studio nails the perfect balance of style and comfort, drenched in natural light from its big windows. The pistachio-splashed walls, soft white linens, and warm timber tones give it a cosy, laid-back vibe. There’s plenty of cupboard space to keep things tidy, and the simple, stylish furniture keeps it all looking effortless. The bed? Absolutely perfect for lounging and drifting off after a day of exploring. The kitchenette’s got everything you need—induction cooker, cutlery, crockery—and you can enjoy meals at the mini ensuite dining space. The bathroom’s a total win too, with all the essentials and a luxe shower to unwind in. Plus, there’s Wi-Fi, a locker, and even an ironing board, so they’ve thought of everything to make your stay smooth and easy. And for laundry? The washing machine in the kitchenette has got you covered.

2. Prime Location with Seamless Connectivity

Nestled at 5 Kadayanallur Street (in the heart of the CBD at Tanjong Pagar), this spot couldn’t be more perfectly located. Maxwell MRT station is just a stone’s throw away, making getting around a breeze. If you’re craving some good, affordable eats, the famous Maxwell Food Centre is right next door. And if you’re in the mood to explore, Chinatown is just a 5-10 minute walk away. For a dose of culture, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is even closer. When the sun sets, the buzzing nightlife of Club Street is only a stone’s throw away, with plenty of lively pubs and eateries to choose from. Want a break from all the action? A peaceful stroll through Ann Siang Hill offers a lush, tranquil escape.

3. A Heritage Building with Rich History and Charm

For a dose of history, start your tour at Kada—it’s a true gem. Habyt Kada at Maxwell sits in a beautifully preserved heritage building from the 1920s. One of Singapore’s earliest Modernist structures, it also has a fascinating past. Originally, it housed St Andrew’s Mission Hospital for Women and Children, which adds to its unique story. Designed by Swan & Maclaren—the same firm behind Raffles Hotel and Tanjong Pagar Railway Station—it’s no wonder the building exudes timeless charm. With three floors and 4,359 square feet, it’s now a State property managed by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). Over the years, it has been repurposed several times since World War II, adding even more layers to its history. Also, did we mention the building was one of the landmarks in Discovering Singapore’s Best Kept Secrets? A collaboration with Singapore Land Authority.

Architecture buffs will be thrilled to know that the building still features its striking triangular podium—it’s a real showstopper. But that’s not all! It’s also home to one of the country’s oldest fully functioning vintage lifts. Picture this: collapsible iron gates and wooden panels that offer a nostalgic nod to the past.

4. Relax and Recharge in Exceptional Wellness Spaces

Habyt Kada at Maxwell is where comfort meets convenience with the Habyt Flex concept. Perfect for short or long stays, it’s got everything you need under one roof to keep life effortless. And the real treat? The second floor is all about wellness, with carefully curated experiences designed to leave you feeling refreshed and recharged.

Fully equipped with ice baths, hydrotherapy, an infrared sauna, and more, it’s designed to work wonders on tired muscles. Just leave it all to Founder Zee—he’ll take care of everything. Trust us, it’s the perfect way to reset after a long day.

Social spaces

Kada’s got plenty of shared spaces designed to bring people together, whether you’re up for a good chat or looking to network. These purpose-built spots are perfect for sparking conversations, making connections, or just relaxing with like-minded souls.

It’s fully stocked with pantry essentials, a coffee station, a comfy lounge, and even a fridge. Got a meeting? There’s a sleek conference table perfect for presentations. What we love most? The gorgeous natural light streaming in through the large windows, offering some pretty cool views of the neighbourhood. Whether you’re working, unwinding with a cuppa and a magazine, or meeting your Habyt neighbours, this space has all the right vibes.

6. Heaps of Vibrant Shops and Eateries to Explore

Kada at Maxwell isn’t just about staying—it’s a buzzing community hub where foodies can dive into a mix of delicious culinary experiences. With a handpicked selection of on-site shops, there’s something to suit every craving and vibe. Here’s a peek at some of the F&B spots we tried and maybe a suggestion here and there on how to navigate your way around:

Your Morning Caffeine and Breakfast Fix

This cosy café at Kada is the perfect spot for fantastic coffee and tasty bites. Start with their Morty Pesto Toastie—it’s a must-try, especially when paired with a steaming cup of coffee. If you fancy some fresh air, head to the charming outdoor seating area and enjoy your brew al fresco. The warm and friendly staff make the experience even better, whether you’re stopping by for a quick recharge or a relaxed coffee break. And before you leave, be sure to snap a pic with the giant cat statue outside—a tribute to owner Jonathan’s beloved feline, and the inspiration behind the brand!

Echo | Great coffee and bakes

Echo is the perfect spot for a chill break. They serve speciality coffee, tea, matcha, kombucha, and a great selection of pastries and toasts. You can choose between indoor or outdoor seating, but we decided to settle outside instead. The view of the lovely green was just so calming, and it really set the tone for a relaxing time. Plus, we couldn’t resist trying the fresh bakes of the day, which were even better when paired with a splash of their signature coffee. Honestly, the whole vibe—everything from the ambience to the food—just felt so lovely and relaxed.

This artisanal teahouse really gives the tea experience a fresh twist. They’ve got everything from milk teas to bold tea espressos, refreshing citrus blends, and pure brews. We decided to try the Triple Citrus Jasmine Tea, and it was so refreshing that we couldn’t resist going back for seconds! The teahouse also has a lovely outdoor seating area under parasols, which creates a chilled, resort-like vibe. It’s definitely the perfect spot to kick back and hang out with the crew.

This cosy little coffee roastery is a true find, offering a delightful selection of coffee beans, tea leaves, and pastries. The best part? It’s tucked away at the midlanding of Kada’s main staircase, with a window opening right onto the street—perfect for coffee lovers who need their fix on the go. There’s also a cosy bench where you can sit, sip, and people-watch. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out their coffee offerings on display—it’s worth a look!

Fuel Up with a Hearty Lunch

If you’re after a hearty lunch with a spicy twist, D’Penyetz is where you need to be. This spot is all about authentic Indonesian fare, and their sambal is the real star of the show—offering eight spice levels to put your heat tolerance to the test. We bravely tried all eight and lived to tell the tale!

As for the food, the Ayam Penyet is a classic, with perfectly crispy chicken, fragrant rice, and a fresh side salad. The Tahu Telor, drizzled with peanut sauce, was a total delight—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and gone in seconds. And the Indomie Ayam Bakar? The noodles and grilled chicken were so tender and flavourful, we’re still thinking about it. A must-visit for spice lovers and Indonesian food fans alike!

Sweet Treats to End Your Night

For a post-dinner treat that hits all the right notes, Haus is a must-visit. Known for its one-of-a-kind cheesecake and wine pairing, it’s truly a match made in heaven. Open till late, it’s the perfect spot to wind down with your new-found buddy or savour some “me time” in style. Their cheesecake? Absolutely divine. A dreamy cross between Basque and New York styles, complete with a signature crust at the bottom—it’s pure decadence. As for the wine, Haus boasts a library meticulously arranged by colour, flavour, and body. Not sure where to start? The friendly staff will guide you to the perfect pairing for the evening. Or better yet, chat with Derrick, the co-founder, who’ll happily share the story behind this brilliant concept. Trust us, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

Other Must-Try Concepts We Recommend

This cosy art studio on the top floor has quickly become one of our favourite spots. The charming, quaint vibe is unbeatable, with painted canvases, spacious painting stations, and adorable knick-knacks scattered around. Not only is the studio bright and airy, but it also offers stunning views of the precinct—truly the perfect escape from the daily grind. We even had the chance to try our hand at acrylics on canvas, guided by Lynn, the lovely founder of Closed On Sundays. And, of course, her coffee was absolutely delish—need we say more? In addition to all that, the studio organises creative art therapy sessions and themed art jams that are an absolute must-try. We honestly can’t wait to go back!

Satori Pilates is definitely Kada’s hidden gem and a must-try. They offer personalised Pilates sessions in both English and Chinese, blending traditional methods with modern techniques for the ultimate mind-body reboot. We had a go under the expert guidance of Ms Yuying, and let’s just say—our muscles have never felt this alive!
